Effect: The deck, which is held in the right hand at the beginning, is tranferred to the left hand. The left hand seems to transfer a packet it is holding to the right hand at the same time.
Method: This sleight is particularly useful when you are working with packets of cards. Hold the deck in right hand biddle grip with a thumb break below the packet of cards to be stolen. Let's assume this packet contains two cards. In this case, the thumb break is held under the top two cards. Another packet of cards is set aside to your left. Let's assume this packet contains four cards. Turn your body a little bit to the left as you reach for the four cards packet. Grab it in left hand dealer's grip. The left hand moves right and back so it goes somewhat behind the right hand. The left hand is then brought forward, so the left packet touches the side of the thumb. Because you can feel where the thumb break is held, you can adjust the left packet to go into the break, using the thumb as a guide. Slide the packet forward and push it to the right using the left thumb, until the packet is almost squared with the deck. Do not square it totally yet. Instead, the right hand turns palm left thus turning the packet and the top two cards of the deck vertically. At the same time, the left hand grabs the deck in dealer's grip. As soon as the right hand packet, which contains six cards now, is turned vertically, it is tapped on top of the deck to totally square it. It should look like you just placed the cards on top of the deck for a moment to transfer the deck to your left hand and the packet to the right hand.
Comments: The insertion of the packet into the thumb break is the critical point of the sleight. You should not look at your hands when it is done. That is why you use the thumb as a guide. Besides that, the deck is covered by the right hand as the insertion is made. A subtlety that can be used sometimes is to flash the bottom of the left hand hand packet before the addition, and flash the bottom of the right hand packet after the addition, because you will show the same card twice. This implies that the packet is the same after the addiction as it was before it. If there too many cards to be added from the top of the deck it is a good idea to hide the thickness of the packet with the right fingers, showing only the face or the back of the packet.
