BIDDLE MOVE

Effect: You hold the deck or a packet of cards in the right hand, and uses the left thumb to count cards off the top of the deck onto a left hand packet.

Method: Hold the deck in right hand biddle grip. Use the left thumb to peel off the top card of the deck onto the left hand. Then, bring the left hand under the deck and use the thumb to peel another card on top of the first one,. Hold a pinkie break under it. This is the card that is going to be stolen back to the deck. Bring the left hand under the deck as before, but this time leave the card above the break at the bottom of the deck as you peel the next card on top of the left hand card. The illusion is that you have three cards in the left hand, because you peeled three cards. But in reality, you only have two cards.

Comments: This sleight can be done with any number of cards. However, the number of cards stolen under the right hand packet has to be reasonable. In other words, don't expect the spectator to believe that you have a packet of ten cards in the left hand and one card in the right when you actually have two cards in the left and nine in the right. When using big packets of cards or the whole deck face up, be careful not to flash the face of the card in the left hand after the biddle move, because it is different from the one you showed before.
